Educational Philosophy

Our aim is to cultivate women who live their lives in a spirit of love and service while making a positive contribution to society.

Educational Philosophy of Aoyama Gakuin Women's Junior College

Inspired by the Christian faith of Aoyama Gakuin, Aoyama Gakuin Women's Junior College observes Aoyama Gakuin's tradition of providing education to women, which has been passed down through the transition from the Girls' Elementary School to Aoyama Jogakuin. We are devoted to providing higher education for women with the aim of nurturing women who are aware, who live in love and service, and who can make an active contribution to all aspects of society. We provide not only specialized knowledge and practical skills but also an advanced liberal arts education based on a well-rounded and global perspective.

Educational Policy of Aoyama Gakuin

Aoyama Gakuin aims to provide education based on the Christian faith and to shape persons who live in sincerity before God, who seek truth with humility, and who actively take responsibility for all people and society in a spirit of love and service.

Aoyama Gakuin School Motto

"The Salt of the Earth, The Light of the World" Mathew 5:13-16

Jesus Christ spoke of "the salt of the earth" and "the light of the world," but this was a proclamation rather than an exhortation. Aoyama Gakuin is founded on the basis of the proclamation that your life is of inestimable value.

The Salt of the Earth: Salt adds taste, prevents spoilage, and is used for purification. The human body needs a 0.7% concentration salt, and we must consume 10–15 grams of salt a day to live. Our school will continue to produce individuals who strive to contribute significantly to society, resist corruption, and wash away its degradation with creativity and humility.

The Light of the World: Light provides brightness and warmth. Light leads people like the guiding light of a lighthouse, and disinfects and nourishes. In the same way, our school will truly endeavor to create a robust and energetic society, igniting the spark of hope.

Besides their literal meanings, earth and world stand for "a world without God" and "the loss of human dignity." Hence, as the individuals making up Aoyama Gakuin, we are blessed by God as "Salt" and "Light," and we will strive to fulfill our purpose.
